He doesn't seem overweight for me.

While I feel for the family, to say that he is not overweight shows just how much society's perception of being overweight has changed.

Take a look at this picture, for instance.

And take a look at the body fat visual chart for comparison.

With the overhanging belly, he is easily 35-40% at least. While the majority of people today are fat (especially in the US), that is not healthy. If anything, until recently, 20-25% used to be average.

Above 25-30% is the fat territory, and that's when you start increasing your risk for heart attacks, diabetes, and strokes. Mr. Goldberg may have had a lot of things going for him, but he is most certainly more than a little overweight.

Assuming he's ~6 feet, I would argue that he is probably ~30-40+ lbs overweight. That is not at all healthy. I'm not arguing everyone should have abs, but there's a happy medium here. Mr. Goldberg is very clearly on the unfortunate side of the medium.

Why couldn't Henson even be bothered to respond to the request for an interview, much less be interviewed?

That seems incompatible with your distaste for "kowtowing to the enemies of freedom" and trying to allow customers access to your books even if a government doesn't want them to have access.

The thing is, I won't buy a desktop or laptop that doesn't have a stylus --- I find the stylus essential to my way of working / interacting w/ a computer. I need to be able to:

  - draw / paint / sketch
  - markup / annotate
  - use the machine as a reference device w/o a keyboard being in the way (this is esp. important when using it as a map reader when driving --- need a daylight viewable display for that though, and I can't replace my Fujitsu Stylistic ST-4121)

If I can fulfill my text input needs w/ a stylus, why do I need to schlep a keyboard around?

Actually, I rather liked the black Packard Bell-branded Apple II which we had at the school (it was in the office though, so students only got to use it when it needed to have a new spreadsheet created).

Guess I'll try a Toshiba Encore 2 Write 10 next --- at least the T1200XE I had was a solid and reliable machine which lasted quite a while.

Gatekeeper also isn't "all MacOS X security". There's separate malware detection, and in order to do much of anything the user has to enter their computer account password.

It's a minor part of OS X security, mostly designed to keep casual users from installing stuff outside the apple store.

35 years was the combined maximum possible sentence. There is no such thing as "street value" of sentences.

During sentencing (if he was found guilty and accountable) is when the judge or jury decides on what punishment is dealt, CAPPED by the maximum. In white collar crimes, it is rarely if ever give the maximum sentence.
