On a very closely related thought this same sort of idea can be used to translate software so that what ran on older legacy platforms or incompatible platforms can automatically be able to run on newer hardware. Imagine you buy the latest greatest Cray SuperComputer Watch and it will run all your Android, Apple Watch, iPhone, MacOSX, Windows, Unix, DEC, Exidy, TRS-80, CPM and other software. Suddenly you can upgrade your hardware without the worry of losing access to your data. We need this in a big way.

The drones are small fry. They're no worse than birds. These drones are small. Very small. Very fragile. Very light weight. These are not military style missile shooting drones but more on the scale of small model aircraft. This whole thing is over reaction.
The drone was 'in the air space' not in imminent collision, not collided.
The probability is the drone would not have been hit by the firefighter plane.
Had the drone been hit then the probability is the drone would be destroyed and the fire fighter plane would barely notice.
Had the firefighter plane noticed it would likely not have sustained any significant damage.
The drones are not a significant threat. Mow them down if they get in the way of the firefighting plane.

People have done research before without all the greed that is surrounding GMOs. I do research. I release my results open source. No need for the likes of Monsanto to control the world. They're too greedy. Denying them patents would help.
Yes, and I would argue those plant patents should not be granted either. But I would disallow almost all patents or set their periods to be extremely short.
Proponents of GMOs tend to focus on the opposition to GMOs based on perceived health risks but there are many other reasons that GMOs are problematic. A huge issue is that patents are being granted on life, on genes. The patent applicants did not invent these genes. Rather they stole them and now want to patent them so they can control the use and make money. All GMO work should be open source and open license. This doesn't solve the many other problems but it chips away at the problems. Of course, the GMO proponents will oppose this.
