Comment All-in-one (Score 1) 325

You don't specify why your requirements require a laptop. You talk about doing things "all day" so certainly you are not on battery power all day.

For me I require the portability of a laptop, such that I can move to conferences with my machine and do presentations, or go to coffee shop to work. However, I never need battery power, and am always near an outlet.

The right all-in-one will give you that portability, power, and cooling, but you'll be tethered to an outlet. In the rare case I don't want to shutdown my apps between outlets, I shutdown using hibernate.

I use a Thinkcentre e93z, and for a case I found the ILugger 23, which is intended for a Mac all-in-one, but the internal dimensions matched my machine.

It's a pretty big bug for people who like watching sports. I'd think live sports are the only advantage that cable has over Internet based entertainment at this point, so this is a pretty big deal. I'm not into sports, so I ditched cable and moved to NetFlix and Hulu a long time ago. People who are into sports can now do the same with this service.

I could not get used to them, so I went back to regular lenses.

It sounds like you may need regular glasses just to wear for close work.

For those of us who are near-sighted, we just need to wear glasses when driving or watching TV, and take them off for close work. I suspect you could do the opposite. If not, maybe you need two sets of glasses, one for close work, and another to see clearly at a distance.

Why would we hope for that? A touch interface is much easier for some people to use than a mouse. My 71-year-old father does much better on a touch screen than with a mouse. For those of us who didn't grow up with mice, they're a lot less intuitive than we think.

"martian rover maintenance infrastructure" sounds like the repair infrastructure is on Mars, so you would just bring it back to that location on Mars.

I've seen the same for hard-drives, and tend not to have content that would be worth paying for recovery, so for people like me there's not much of a difference in reliability. Only one out of 5 of my SSDs has failed so far, which is a much lower rate than I've seen with hard drives in my array.

I'm using UnRaid and backing everything up to a second server that's kept offline and off-site so I can't have my collection destroyed by malware, theft, or a fire. It was a bit costly, but my data is secure enough,.
