How buggy must it be if it developers have to "come together to keep it alive?"
If you install a 20 year old linux distro... vim and emacs both still work. Nothing has to be done to "keep them alive" because... they're just software.
That's a fucking stupid analogy, if you were an app developer you'd know a bunch of reasons why, too.
Anyone going to the Fediverse will have a horrible opinion of social media as a lawless garbage pit.
Obviously, you're replying to somebody who has a positive opinion of social media as a lawless garbage pit, though.
I'm pretty sure people will assume you're a pervert even if you capitalize it strategically to feign innocence.
Just as people will assume you're functionally illiterate if your mistakes cross the line from typos to not even understanding grammar.
One problem in discussing these issues is that there are a lot of false pedants who confuse style guides for rules. And those idiots include over 99% of "grammar school" teachers.
Is antenna volume actually a limiting factor in space?
That was the answer in the 90s, too... where are they?
How did this article not mention anything about Red Hat / IBM in 2023?
Probably because nothing significant happened. 4% of RedHat has laid off, that happens in every big company on a regular basis. It resulted in more shouted hyperbole than average, because that just comes with the OSS userbase.
Note that IBM has released many really important open source projects over the years, and continues to contribute to the Linux Foundation.
IBM is mostly a cloud services company these days, and their whole stack is open source. If you build your cloud solution to run on IBM, you can switch to self-hosting at any time, because the whole stack is OSS.
Most people using open source are not communists for whom IBM is a trigger word.
Forking isn't really an option, unless you're prepared to...
actually do it?
Oftentimes, all a contributor wants to do is fix one pesky bug
So you can't do anything, because the average person doesn't want to do everything? What sort of idiot argument is that?
They don't have the capacity, and aren't in locations that would make them viable for most transportation.
And you can't just scale them up, that requires large tracts of land.
It all comes down to the "we" part. It implies scale. And indeed, wings imply runways. And runways require land.
One had quality lead actors, the other had supporting actors getting their big shot at lead roles.
The writing had similar issues; in The Firth Element you had screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen (who wrote The Karate Kid) with Luc Besson tacking his name on, in Valerian you had Besson trying to write something on his own.
But without Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich it could have been really awful, with everything else the same.

These days it is just a place for bigots to announce that they support bigotry by using it.
It's ironic, he's enriching an anti-Semite by selecting that platform to post his complaints.
