Submission + - SPAM: DOJ: Chinese researcher destroyed evidence of illegal transfer of US tech

An anonymous reader writes: The charged individual, Guan Lei, allegedly threw a hard drive into a dumpster nearby his US residence prior to attempting to board a flight to China.

The hard drive was recovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after Guan refused a request from the intelligence agency to examine his computer when he attempted to board a flight to China.

Following his refusal of the request, Guan was not allowed to board the flight.

According to an affidavit filed by the FBI in support of the charge, the hard drive was "irreparably damaged and that all previous data associated with the hard drive appears to have been removed deliberately and by force".

Submission + - Platonic solid - dodecahedron, new surface topolgy proof (quantamagazine.org) 1

NCamero writes: Quanta magazine reports that a trio of mathematicians has resolved one of the most basic questions about the dodecahedron. The cube, tetrahedron, octahedron and icosahedron cannot have a straight path you could take that would eventually return you to your starting point without passing through any of the other corners. The dodecahedron can.

Actually, the WHO said that asymptomatic people should be tested. At least that was their guideline as of August 28.

The WHO has taken a credibility hit for many misstatements as well---but not like the USA. However, you could say that those pressing the WHO buttons are red, not orange.

You are overlooking the fact that every set includes the empty set. So, some religions may simply be the absence of religion. Also, the opposite of "organized religion" could just as easily be "organized atheism".

For all you know there is a "silent majority" of atheists around. Since they don't make a fuss and carry on like other religious fanbois they could easily be overlooked.

Submission + - AI-generated tennis matches are both eerie and impressive (engadget.com)

shirappu writes: A team of researchers from Stanford University have trained an AI on a database of annotated footage and the statistical tendencies of top players to create a model that predicts how pro tennis players could perform against each other.

It's far from perfect (the released video makes the players look a little like they're floating), but the technology allows for some intriguing data analysis, such as predictions of how shots might have played out at slightly different angles, speeds, or locations. The technology could also be used to help with the animation of movements in video games.

Submission + - CDC Quietly Updated US COVID Numbers - Only 9,210 Died From COVID Alone (cdc.gov)

An anonymous reader writes: “This week the CDC quietly updated the Covid-19 number to admit that only 6% of the 153,504 US deaths recorded actually died solely from Covid-19. That’s 9,210 deaths

The other 94% had 2-3 other serious illnesses & the overwhelming majority were of very advanced age”

Is the CDC Lying? Probably not.
Is the CDC following the orders of an evil, orange bastard who is so delusional he may believe he is telling the truth: YES

The CDC has lost all credibility at this point. The latest abrupt change to its recommendations suggesting that people without COVID-19 symptoms should not get tested was the final nail in that coffin.

Well, since Castle Bravo was detonated on the ground (in a building) it created so much more fallout when compared to the Tsar Bomba that was detonated somewhere just over 4000m above seal level. Much of this reduction was due to the Tsar Bomba's "fireball" was kept from interacting with the ground because of the shock wave created by the explosion.

Congratulations on your irrelevant ad hominem attack. It clearly highlights your ignorance and inability to stay on point. You may try being more concise. For example, if you are going to insult someone without any real basis, try something short and to the "point":
Your family tree is a cactus, because everybody on it is a prick. (And I suspect that "cactus prick" describes more than your personality.)
Do everyone a favor and stay in your echo chamber.
