Submission + - I just read through all 173 pages of the unredacted Google antitrust filing 3

Ok so, I just read through all 173 pages of the unredacted Google antitrust filing and I have to say that either Google is screwed or society is screwed, we'll find out which. Unordered list of fun things I learned:

  • google has a secret deal with facebook called "Jedi Blue" that they knew was so illegal that it has a whole section describing how they'll cover for each other if anyone finds out — google appears to have a team called gTrade that is wholly dedicated to ad market manipulation
  • - Google is willing to do almost everything to prevent people from circumventing their ad exchanges — This is what AMP is about — Google habitually insider trades on their ad exchanges in every way you can think of and every way you can't. Too many ways to list here.
  • [the list continues]

Twitter user @PatrickMcGee_ also provides further analysis.

The complete, unredacted filing is here.

There's a portion of the population who would rather just break even and have the basic necessities to live if they don't have to work. They won't get ahead, or afford new things, etc, but they haven't had to work to keep a roof over their head and have something to eat, and that's adequate enough for them.

So they should work 3 jobs to break even and have the basic necessities to live, with no chance to get ahead or afford new things? People might be lazy, but they're not stupid enough to think there's an advantage to jobs that wring the life out of you for peanuts.

So you're assuming the local employees have the ability to issue blanket takedowns on their own authority with no input from Corporate?

Is that actually the case or is the government of India threatening to make hostages of employees if Corporate doesn't comply? My cynical opinion has been that it's the latter.

I agree that companies should attempt to follow the laws of the country they're doing business in (or leave), but India isn't talking about fining the companies for not complying, they're threatening to jail the local employees, who have zero say in corporate policy. That's why this is news and a very bad thing

With Lenovo software, once you remove it, typically hardware functionality will go away. I know with our ThinkPad E15s the Function keys will do nothing once you uninstall Lenovo Vantage (their update tool/service.) On older laptops if you didn't have their software the CD drive was disabled.
