I'm on the same page as you and I'm totally not ok with it. I'm an OG Ron Paul Libertarian and we both know the FED is the heart of the problem. The market left on it's own will do pretty good on supply/demand. But government increasing demand with QE and such is the root of the problem. Government shut downs for covid, massive deficit spending, and the FED itself are the main issues here. And yes, we all pay dearly for their actions.

Neither of these things affect inflation. Inflation is defined as an increase in the money supply. Only the government can cause inflation by printing money and decades of ultra low interest rates. Inflation is not a consequence of printing money, it's the expected and daresay intended result. Your two points can affect prices in terms of supply/demand and costs/profit, but not inflation.

On the surface, 2 hours M - Th are taken from the family time, especially children. If both parents are working 4, 10 hour days, then what?

That was more a general comment on what politicians are doing these days. I definitely care about AGW. I also happen to be an EE. I'm all in on a future where electricity comes from renewable non polluting resources.

Current situation is electricity comes mostly from fossil fuels. So electric cars do little to change the pollution. They help some, but mostly consolidate and shift electric generation to other sources.

Solar, Wind, etc are not reliable. I live in TX, so I saw first hand last year what happens when power grid goes down.

For me, I'm only interested in a hybrid, because I can use gas when needed. But it also needs to be cost comparable to gas powered car. Here's the valid plan to move this forward. 1. Increase renewable and make it more reliable. 2. Put some serious electrical infra in place. 3. Let market decide if electric car is best. Government can't mandate what's "better". They do it all the time and fail miserably. This plan is missing steps 1 and 2 which are pre-requisite for the ultimate goal of #3 nirvana.

Politicians either think they can mandate stuff like this which is naive. Or more likely, they already invested in companies so they will become even more ultra rich. They need to create imaginary problems, and then fail trying to solve them. "We need even more money now to solve this big problem we created" They seem to have forgotten the $20B needed to upgrade electric infrastructure. Putting chargers into apartment complexes that don't even have enough spaces to park cars is going to be pretty interesting and ugly looking.

Never ceases to amaze me how these "free market" companies try to get handouts from the US Government aka Taxpayers. First they move all the factories to cheaper countries like China. Then when those Chinese companies don't provide enough parts, these same companies suddenly want HELP? They created the problem and could join forces to build fabs in this country quite easily.
