Well, that would be 2 out of the 3 surviving. Syd passed away in 2006, and Wright in 2008. Roger would still get his share of royalties (except for sales on "Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "The Division Bell" when he wasn't in the band anymore)

Use Audacity to do them justice. It's fairly easy, and with a little patience, you can even cut out the audible click between the tracks.

Also with your example from The Wall... "Comfortably Numb" is the only song that is completely standalone. Everything else blends with either the previous track, following track, or both.

I can understand Pink Floyd's objection to selling by the track (at least partially). With The Wall, "Comfortably Numb" is the only song on the entire double-album that does not segue in from the previous or out to the following song. In fact, even "Outside the Wall" segues into "In the Flesh" with the phrase "Isn't this where we came in?" split between the two, which made for a continuous loop of the album in 8-track form.

I have a few songs that I have edited for play on my MP3 player so that songs that are usually played together are combined so that I can listen on shuffle (such as "Brain Damage / Eclipse", "Long Distance Runaround / The Fish", and "Heartbreaker / Living Loving Maid" (though Led Zeppelin denies those songs are meant to be together, the lyrics indicates otherwise)).

Don't forget about WebOS... The source is so open, you can even change the built-in apps (even directly on the device via a terminal session). The "jailbreak" process to allow unsigned apps is to type "upupdowndownleftrightleftrightbastart" on the phone (which even Palm will tell you). They have even provided an RSS feed for the official App Catalog to be used by any third-party application managers to use (such as Preware)

Even Android looks closed-source in comparison.

WebOS 2.0 is scheduled to be released with the Palm Pre 2 in December, but the existing phones can be upgraded to it.

And one of the criteria for General Public Interest is "has become famous for some reason and is widely talked about/referenced in non local media or the 'film community' or is now of general historic interest for some reason." By virtue of it being discussed on Slashdot, it now meets that requirement.

(And will probably also meet the "has been downloaded in 'large' numbers from some website(s)" criteria as well, due to Slashdot.)

I don't see why it shouldn't be included since even porn is allowed in the database: Dirty Bob's Xcellent Adventures 35 (Yes, that is actually the title)

Granted, it has someone in it that has done regular movies as well, they still have it in the database (along with many other of his movies)

If married, the first $400k is untaxed, the income between $400k and $1m is at 5% (600,000 x .05 = 30,000), and everything above $1m is at 9% (100,000 * .09 = 9000)

I can't comment on whether or not your firewire mixer would work under Ubuntu natively (though you'd be surprised to find that more devices work natively in Linux than Windows) since I have no idea what hardware it is, but I do feel it prudent to make the point that there is actually a version of Ubuntu specifically FOR recording studio work: http://ubuntustudio.org/

Granted, you are already accustomed to doing things your way, and it really wouldn't be advisable to switch simply for the sake of switching. I'm sure there are some features of Audition that you like that may not be offered by an open-source program like Audacity (though from my understanding most of the features desired from this type of software is supplied via VST plugins, which are supported in Audition, Audacity, and most other digital audio workstation software packages)

As an example (though not related to your scenario) of something that works out of the box in Ubuntu and NOT AT ALL in Windows, I plugged a LG VX-9800 cell phone (aka Verizon Communicator), which is not even a smartphone (though it has a qwerty keyboard for texting) into my computer to charge. On Windows, it would just charge (though I could download a driver to let software configure the phone). On Linux, it asked me what cell phone carrier it was using and configured it for internet access (which did, in fact, work). This wasn't even an option on Windows at all.

It's not just about searching online for the question... you also need to be able to prevent people from asking their friends for help

The problem here is that, this behavior actually SHOULD be encouraged (but not over-encouraged). In the real world, if you don't know the answer, you SHOULD ask your colleagues instead of just guessing. Your "education" isn't as much about teaching you the information as it is teaching you how to learn. Perhaps the proper way to grade a test, would be to give only half credit on any problem that the student needed help on (with no extra penalty should they get it wrong anyway). If the student has absolutely no grasp on the subject matter, a score of 50% with all correct answers (that he had to ask about) isn't going to do him a whole lot of good.
