Hmm, I thought the source code to this application would be pretty much the most boring thing in the world that any CS minor could cobble together, but perhaps this code is a lot more interesting than I thought.
Just because it costs money to maintain doesn't mean it should charge users. The highways aren't cheap to maintain, but it doesn't mean they should all be toll roads.
Well, we could, in fact, measure temperature in joules, if we set Boltzmann's constant to 1. Of course, we would have to work with rather small prefixes, like yoctojoules. A better solution might be come up with a new temperature unit equal to exactly 10^-23 joules. This would "metrify" temperature units relative to the other units.
Hmm, usually this sort of thing is covered with warning labels--though I suppose most thieves are too dumb to know what they mean.
I wonder what Rober would have done if they had kept it. He has their address. Cops won't do anything.
This really doesn't say much about junk food, in particular. Obviously, being awake takes more energy than being asleep, so it makes sense that they want more food.

I don't understand why a Chinese person is held to US sanctions against Iran.
"interests of the state" is some coded language for interests of certain wealthy people in power. In a democracy, the interests of the state are the interests of the people.
In US it is the other way around. The US officials have to have corporate people in the council, and they have the ultimate decision authority.
It's already been a no-brainer for a house owner to install solar panels, assuming the house gets sun. The problem is that many people don't own houses. And there's no incentive for a rentier to install solar panels since they don't pay the electricity costs. And no incentive for a renter to install panels in a place they are going to leave in a few years.
Also, in high growth areas like Austin, houses usually get torn down for condos and apartments, so it probably doesn't make sense to put in lasting improvements there either.
Well, if we don't limit it to a small agreed-upon list of crippling diseases, then some parents may choose some whimsical or downright harmful changes. Maybe the parents would prefer a dumb child, or an intersex child, or one with no hair. Just look at what happened to dogs. We have dogs that can't breathe properly because someone thought it was cute to have a smashed in nose.
What is the difference between a Chinese company and an American company that manufactures in China? It seems like either can have a Chinese backdoor. But I suppose it's easier for the NSA to put a backdoor into an American company's product.
