Comment I got something from nothing (Score 1) 429

Before the big bang we were nothing. Anti-matter you could say. Because there was nothing. Then, a singularity so heavy, so singular, so dense, that it falls into our nothingness, our "anti-matter" and boom, created matter as we know it.

While our universe seems to started from nothing, we actually are just another universe packed into travel size.

While I am not an expert of anything but fixing computers, this is always what seemed more logical to me, then a "God" or something out of nothing theories.

Wow. If it was up to me, I'd bitch slap both parties. The problem isn't Democrats or Republicans, the problem is Democrats AND Republicans. Both parties are very incompetent. Instead of trying to help the people, both parties are more worried about the agenda's the superpac's are paying them for.

That stupid piece-of-shit OS couldn't have more then 8.3 characters in filenames when Apple DOS 3.3 had 30 characters (including spaces!); Apple ProDOS had 15 characters the latter which even had sub-directories!

Good bye and good riddance to CP/M -- the OS that held Microsoft, MSDOS, and Windows back for decades. Even _today_ you _still_ see Windows using 8.3 filenames in Windows\System32 !?

I'm a bit lost on how CP/M held back MS, since MSDOS was never compatible with CP/M, and MS choose to stay with the 8.3 filename for as long as they did. If you want to get mad, get mad at MS for not forward thinking when they bought QDos from Seattle Computing and not changing the filename limitation. Shit, get mad at Seattle Computing for putting a 8.3 limitation in QDos, since by your statement it isn't MS's fault that they left things as they are.

Apple is giving away HARDWARE and Microsoft is offering a discount on software.

I'd be ashamed to work for Microsoft right now.

I'd be ashamed to work for MS at any time in it's history tbh.

Comment Re:replacing line feeds with terminators is not a (Score 2) 169

In BBC BASIC, a colon is a statement terminator, much like a semicolon in languages with C-style syntax. The linked code is therefore not a one-liner by any meaningful definition of the term. One could replace all of the linefeeds in Linux kernel source with semicolons and other appropriate terminators. That wouldn't make the kernel a one-liner.

If it's a one-line program, why is it more than one line?

A line of code is not the same as a line on a screen. The program won't fit on one line on most screens, but it will fit on one line of BBC BASIC, which fortunately has a well defined, but short maximum length of 256 characters. The whole program is 257 bytes as there is an extra byte to mark the end of the program.

So, they've said that they knew something like this was going to happen eventually.. If they knew it was going to happen eventually, they should have planned for it. And, if they were happy with the security measures before, why do they need to change them now?

Let's keep this in context.. One guy, seemingly acting alone, shot a few people. Unfortunately he did it on government land, so the instant response is 'Terrorism'.

One guy (well, two if you count our PM), screwing with our freedoms.

Sounds to me like this was planned. Push a crazy psycho into doing something really dumb on Government property, or to a soldier/government worker. Then push thru agenda you want.

So in other words, don't install apps I have no idea where they come from? Sounds good to me.

Just don't take them over the border to Canada...
