A machine can be a virtual machine. It is another environment that needs to be managed and tested. And there is a hit in testing, a relative large on. You have 6 major browsers (IE7, IE8, Safari, Opera, Firefox 3.5, Chrome), adding more just increases the testing time. Most of those are standards compliant, except for IE. I have websites that look different on IE7 and IE8.

May is such a definitive word. If I had a million dollars on a project, may is not going to cut it. And how much faith would you put into DEP? I don't: http://uninformed.org/?v=2&a=4&t=sumry

Also do you think M$ will come out and say that, "IE8 is exploitable, please use something else."?

Hompage Searching

It is more like ALT to show the menu.

Tools -> Settings

Click on Settings under Search.

Look at the screen for a minute to figure out how to add one. BTW it is at the bottom Find more search providers

It opens up a add-on window, with incidentally no competitors on the front page, just sites like ebay or New York Times. Try navigating to google, couldn't find it.

Searched for google, there it is. Added it.

Go back to tools->settings, open up search settings

Right Click on Google and set as default.

Easy to follow 20 steps to change search provider in IE8. Wonder how many people do it, since it is easier to download firefox or chrome.

A properly laid mine field will not suffer from sympathetic detonation of another mine. Most mines are placed 5 meters apart or more. Artillery is effective against certain types of mines, ones with trip wires or tilt rods, even then I would hesitate going in unless under a more serious threat (ie direct fire).

A single mine with a remote detonator is barely effective. The whole point of a mine is place it, and forget it. If you need someone (or 2) to babysit it cuts into you combat effectiveness.

Many modern anti-personal mines have a time that the mine is active. After 2 weeks it goes inert, or explodes in place.

Being an ex Combat Engineer, clearing minefields in Bosnia I can see the benefit of this technology. It could be a quick way to determine if a field is 'clear' or needs further investigation. Large scale offensive attacks, you can spray this over the battlefield and know shortly if it is clear.
