Generally good points, except I do not know why you bring up heartlessness...as I had not. Let us suppose that Enterprise A makes doodads. Enterprise B makes humbugs. Enterprise A needs B's humbugs for its doodads, and Enterprise B needs A's capital. Enterprise A contracts with Enterprise B. As part of that contract Enterprise A agrees to not buy humbugs from any other 3rd enterprise unless members of the 3rd enterprise agree to pay contribute a fee to Enterprise B to recover lost income. ,

The above contract seems lawful.

.

Let us suppose two other Enterprises. Enterprise A owns machinery and patents concerning the production of engines. Enterprise B is co-operative of skilled labor. Enterprise A needs B's labor, and B needs A's capital. Enterprise A contracts with Enterprise B, and as part of that contract Enterprise A agrees to not contract for labor with any other enterprise unless members of the third enterprise agree to contribute dues to Enterprise B.

This is the same lawful contract. Isn't it?

I agree with you quite wholeheartedly.

However, let us suppose that we were engineered/enhanced by an advanced alien race whom is no longer present.

How would science go about testing the alternative hypothesis that we were not the natural product of evolutionary processes on earth??

For that matter, there are the fiddly things that 1% of users care about, and then there are the things that really turn people off. My list of easy fixes that would really improve relations are: 1. Add green bars above comments. 2. Make fonts more similar to current fonts, and make the text darker.

Thanks for the response.

I would have been banned by now too I would have thought. ha ha.

As it happens I do not subscribe to the conspiracy theories of an intentional killing of Slashdot community. However, I did want you and the other developers to REALLY hear us. It is obvious that you have. Heck, there is a blog post in the Washington Post about it.

So I will forgo final judgement on Beta until the developers have had a chance to do what they can with it. The question will always be, will those that decide on the objectives for the recode believe how serious we are about keeping the essential elements of Slashdot in.

I, like many others will not be here this week. However, it is impossible to resist stopping in momentarily to see how things are going.

There have been reports that anti-beta commenters are being banned by IP address. Has there been an official response to this allegation? Censorship by moderators we expect on Slashdot, no matter the topic. Censorship by Slashdot is something else...

Mac OS X Bitcoin Stealing Trojan Horse Called OSX/CoinThief Discovered 108

An anonymous reader writes "SecureMac.com has discovered a new trojan horse for Mac OS X called OSX/CoinThief.A, which spies on web traffic to steal Bitcoins. This malware has been found in the wild, along with numerous reports of stolen coins. The malware, which comes disguised as an app to send and receive payments on Bitcoin Stealth Addresses, instead covertly monitors all web traffic in order to steal login info for Bitcoin wallets."
