Comment ISO Requirements (Score 2, Informative) 401

Actually, if your workplace is ISO certified, it would have had to document procedures and work instructions to get and maintain the certification. A procedure contains high level information, while a work instruction actually documents what steps it takes to do the job. The one thing ISO does is force (theoretically) a company to do what they say they are supposed to be doing, the other thing is does is generate tons of documentation. It just goes with the territory if you want the cert.

Why not add everybody's tool bars to the OS too, and everyone's messenger service... and how about five or six calculators...

As for the argument that most people will only use what came with the machine, well, you can't legislate against stupidity. I doubt pre-bundling everybody's browser into the OS install package will help. This is just legislators trying to do something no one cares about so that they will look like they are doing something while taking no politcal risk.

To give the example of veganism when studies of the North American diet shows you don't have to be a vegan to be undernourished or self-damaging is a red flag. Many people all over the world eat a vegan diet without hurting themselves. It is not my way, but I recognize education and common sense go a long way to ensuring a healthy lifestyle.

That said, everyone has delusions, most are minor, safe and act as a coping mechanism when we feel powerless. Only when a delusion overpowers other aspects of good judgment does it become a problem. At that point, they become disorders and enter an entirely different category.

All I was getting at in regards to delusions are that a) we all have them and b) we all like them. They do serve a purpose, even if they only buy time until you come up with a response to something particularly odious.

MrCrassic writes: "It appears that Google is initiating talks with well-known PDA/smartphone manufacturer HTC to make the Google phone a reality. With impressive tech specs and an already impressive concept underway , could Google be the next company to make a mark in the wireless device industry? From the main article:

However, a recent report by CrunchGear states that its own sources at mobile handset provider HTC have tipped the site off to multiple gPhone handsets being prepped for launch in the first quarter of 2008 and that the handsets will be coming out of Taiwan. There will supposedly be over 20 different handsets to choose from — some with GPS — and they will carry special versions of Google Maps, Google Calendar, Gmail, and VoIP-enabled Google Talk. Speaking of software, Google is rumored to be developing its own operating system for the gPhone. According to reports by Engadget, the OS has been in development since 2005 after Google's acquisition of a mobile software company called Android. The Android team has since developed a Linux-based mobile OS while at Google — a detail that is corroborated by the CrunchGear report — which of course comes with tight Google integration. Both sites appear to agree that their sources indicate Google isn't currently looking to develop the hardware... for now.

Leonard Nimoy will also put in an appearance, while Eric Bana signed up this week as the movie's villain, Nero."
