Exactly. You don't want a pic like that floating around on the internet. What if you run for public office one day?

If we're talking American politics, that isn't exactly the career killer it once was. I don't think we're too far off from politicians including links to their OnlyFans.

We'll have a stripper, prostitute (real, not metaphorical), or porn star in a federal or major state office in the next decade. I'll guarantee it. Probably out of Vegas or Southern California. And yes, OnlyFans will be involved.

Drug decriminalization only really works when you have the social support structures in place to prevent most people from turning to drugs in the first place. You know, things like free/affordable higher education, well-paying jobs, healthcare, affordable housing - the stuff that's typically present in places which have had success stories with drug decriminalization campaigns.

Let people do drugs in good ol' late stage capitalism America and well, yeah, what happened in Oregon is what you'll get.

Drug abuse doesn't exist because all your expenses aren't free. Drug abuse exists because a significant number of people that wanted to try the thrill of drugs liked it so much that they're unwilling to stop. That's it. That's the total reason. Addiction has been around long before there was even a concept of wealth.

"Oh no, society isn't giving me free tuition to Yale, so I'll become a heroin addict instead" isn't a thing.

Same for many other social ills, like homelessness. There are a considerable amount of people that, no matter what you offer them, they're going to make bad choices. For those people, society's only option is law enforcement.

Putin didn't get Trump elected.

You did.

People like you... and servicescopeminor, and all the rest of the "Trumpanzee" screamers... pushed voters in his direction. He told them that people like you were arrogant asses that looked down on them, and hated everything about them. And you've taken every opportunity to prove him right. In politics, culture, religion, you name it, you guys have been gleefully poking those people with a stick for years. And when Trump was elected, you simply couldn't bring yourselves to believe that it was because he had genuine support. It HAD to be a conspiracy. Putin did it. Or aliens. Or whatever. Further reinforcing what Trump had been saying all along.

But by all means, continue. There's another election coming up. By all means continue to call them rubes and Trumpanzees and whatever mockery you can come up with. You keep poking them with that stick, and then are shocked, shocked I tell you, when they yank it out of your hands and smash you with it.

About 2-3 years ago, our MRI tech of 20 years started noticing many more young women coming in with breast cancer. Much younger than normal, and more frequent than normal, and more advanced stages. It was anecdotal, but enough for her to notice the difference.

The number of young women on birth control pills has increased in percentage over the years, and those that use them are staying on them for much longer durations than in the past. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a link.

If you think a deep state doesn't exist, then you're a fool. It doesn't take "Putin's useful idiots" to be wary of its reach. Because everyone in Washington fears it:

Do U.S. Politicians Need to Fear Our Intelligence Agencies?

FTA:

"We know that the security establishment is enormously bloated, that it abuses its secrecy powers to advance its own interests, and that it engages in abuse of whistleblowers and others who challenge it. We know that it sometimes wantonly violates the law, and that it has a frightening degree of surveillance power. But what these reports hint at is that these powers have become a dangerously independent and significant force within our democratic system."

"Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you." - Sen. Chuck Schumer

And that's just the Intel agencies. Your life is in this country is governed by a veritable army of alphabet agencies that seek to rule you from top to bottom. They monitor your communications, your financial transactions, and your property in a manner that would make Orwell's Big Brother envious.

Well, not exactly. The article is a summary of the sources, theoretically written by consensus, but in practice often dominated by a few editors.

Wikipedia is decent if you check the article history and the sources. Unfortunately, for some articles the sources are books that are not easily available.

I'd say Wikipedia is mostly reliable, but on contentious political stuff, I wouldn't accept it as a source as say, a teacher handing out an assignment. If a kid were doing a short paper on the Ford Model T, then sure, I'd take the Wikipedia page as a source. But nothing recently political.
