Comment Bought Turbo C (Score 1) 113

Forget Pascal, I bought Turbo C and learned C after a very short introduction to Turbo Pascal.

I didn't want to spend a lot of time learning a language that wasn't much used outside of academia, and someone I knew in the industry recommended C.

Turbo C was a great product and a good learning experience. Complete with memory corruption and crashing.

Pascal was too much like training wheels.

Wouldn't help.

Drivers have been caught phoning their friends to pickup the packages. I can't find it now but one ring doorbell video showed the driver high fiving the guy who stole the package, and it's pretty obviously not the owner coming home. (It was from when the PS5 was in high demand and short supply).

I use cloudflare for a couple sites.

Almost nobody that uses the site has to do the captchas, or gets cloudflare messages of any kind.

98% of the time the users on my site are unaffected. The bots, fake search engines and the like just trolling to spam users or clone sites however get blocked the majority of the times.

Not stopping using them any time soon.

This story is obviously garbage and the person who wrote the original hasn't even played with chatGPT.

ChatGPT exceeds the described level of evaluation by miles.

It's not an AGI, it's much more as-if you took a brilliant person and tossed their dead brain onto a slab, plugged in a few electrodes and then started questioning it.

Now imaging if you could wake it up...

The AI we have to worry about would exceed a child like understanding of math by such a margin you likely wouldn't even recognize it as math. It would however be able to answer questions with it you aren't even entirely sure how to postulate.

Having recently witnessed multiple instances of "white men" losing their positions and/or jobs because they were "white men", why should "white men" support such initiatives? It certainly isn't in our interest.

Now we're getting fucked; but we aren't the ones who were disadvantaging others. Those people have theirs.

Me? I have to eat and put a roof over my head just like everyone else.
