Update from the Mayo Clinic:
http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthpolicycenter/pdfs/perspective.pdf

Bill:
http://edlabor.house.gov/documents/111/pdf/publications/AAHCA-BillText-071409.pdf

See page 26 section 122 for what is covered and what is not. In it is referenced the:
Guide to Clinical Preventive Services, 2008
Recommendations of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force
http://www.ahrq.gov/clinic/pocketgd08/pocketgd08.pdf

Webpage:
http://www.ahrq.gov/CLINIC/uspstfix.htm

No cost sharing for preventive services. See also page 28, line 21 of the bill.

Page 29, line 2 of the bill states the starting levels of cost sharing is $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for a family.

What confuses me[1] is on one hand they say that preventive services are not covered yet they state later that they cover grade A and grade B level services only:

(8) Preventive services, including those services recommended with a grade of A or B by the Task Force on Clinical Preventive Services and those vaccines recommended for use by the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This means that if you search that PDF for
grade: c
or
grade: d

You will see what is not covered and why. The list is too long to fully detail here but it does not cover screening for things like some forms of cancer (testicular, pancreatic, etc), coronary heart disease, most forms of VD, hepatitis b or c, elevated blood lead levels in children or pregnant women, scoliosis in adolescents or postmenopausal hormone therapy,and many more. I saw nothing regarding gastrointestinal screening in there at all.

So it looks like some things are covered, but if you need more attention you either need money to purchase a higher level of service (providing you are employed) or just deal with it.[2]

As it is, some people think that this plan is laughable. What are the odds that Congress is going to pass House Resolution 615?

----------
1). Seriously. How do they expect people to make heads or tails of this stuff. Does it mean that you have to pay out of pocket for the basics (page 26 section 122) and everything else is cost shared or do they mean that the basics are free and everything else is cost shared?

2). Do they even care?

Comment Sarah Palin won't get the swing voters (Score 1) 8

I cannot see how she could survive getting the nomination much less making it to office (in a Presidential or Vice Presidential capacity). Why? I think that the media will still ridicule her and many people I have spoken with (including conservatives) really don't think that she has a snowballs chance in hell. That said... I'd really like a non-Democrat President next time around.

Any ideas yet on who is being groomed for consideration for the 2012 elections? EMWTK.

Windows 7 Hits Build 7600 (Possible RTM) 671

An anonymous reader writes "One Microsoft Way is reporting that Microsoft has significantly incremented the build number of both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2: 'Reports across the Web are pointing to a build 7600 for both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. This is significant because the bump in the build number would suggest that Microsoft has christened this build as the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build. The RTM is expected to be given out to Microsoft partners sometime later this month and launched on October 22, 2009, the day of General Availability (GA). The build string is "7600.16384.090710-1945," which indicates that it was compiled just a few days ago: July 10, 2009, at 7:45pm. Microsoft only increments the build number when it reaches a significant goal, and the only one left is the RTM milestone. The last builds that were leaking were all 72xx builds, so such a large bump is suspicious but at the same time it is something Microsoft would do to signify that this is the final build.'"

You mentioned that a lot of energy is being used to resist doing anything about pollution and things like that.

Offtopic, but where are the 500 mile per gallon cars that the Big Three automakers were supposed to be hiding[1]? I'm telling you right now that if they existed then they would have been on the street last year and they wouldn't have needed no stinkin' bailout.

Found the link here on Slashdot. Here is the "best" description from the provided link's blog replies of why global warming equals global cooling:
==========
The antarctic is supposed to be a desert because it is too cold to snow.
The fact the central area is now accumulating snow points to warming and accompanying increased precipitation.

The ice sheets have increased their outward flow. Also another indicator of increased precipitation and warmth.

One has to be very careful what one looks at for indicators of global warming/cooling.
==========
Best real world answer:
In other words: If it gets warmer, that's because of global warming. If it gets colder, that's because of global warming. If it gets wetter, that's because of global warming. If it gets drier, that's because of global warming. If the ice is melting, that's because of global warming. It the ice is getting thicker, that's because of global warming. If the bees are dying, that's because of cell phones, err, global warming.

Also: Global warming is caused by man, especially by those driving SUV's. The only way to save us is to reduce our energy use to zero (Algore and friends excluded, they can each use more than what 50 normal households combined are allowed without criticism).

Did I miss any important rules about global warming?
==========
Personally I'd like to go to Mars to check on the carbon spewing Haliburton rover that is causing it's surface temperature to rise. As that won't be happening anytime soon I guess the idea now is to launch pollution high into the atmosphere to reflect heat back to space.

Perhaps the manufactured crisis of Global Warming was beginning to cool off and now we have the manufactured astronomical debt crisis to keep us occupied.
