Given all the open-source SSL/TLS security flaws (OpenSSL, gnutls, Apple SSL) that have come out these past few months - mostly thanks to renewed interest in hunting flaws, thanks to the Snowden revelations, I suspect - I hope that companies like Microsoft are also seeing this as a wake-up call driving them to do code reviews on their closed-source SSL/TLS code.

that isn't true. under the new examiner count system allowances are weighed less. besides, you can easily get at least one continuation out of every application. so that's a count for the FAOM, the RCE, the subsequent FA and then maybe an allowance. hell, sometimes you can get 2 or more continuations on a case and something like 80+% of your counting is rejection-related.

I'd really like to know what the real business plan is. Are they really after the part of the world's population that is currently unreachable, or is it a parallel effort to Google Fiber where they're hoping to get access to a greater percentage of the first world's internet traffic so they can monetize it?

My money's on the latter.

I live in Washington state, and I think we're to blame - at least in part. All those Oregon programmers kept coming north to smoke weed here. I was a bit surprised Oregon didn't have plenty of its own already, given its reputation; but no, you'd see those guys all over the place asking "where can I find the good stuff, man. The GOOD stuff! I need a hookup, man!"

Our own health insurance exchange did well after the first week - that's when we fired all the stoners and hired every Mormon coder we could find.
