You have to be rich enough for the percentage of your income it takes to set that stuff up to not outweigh the amount you'll save. Also the real reason is we don't tax investments like we used to. 20% is the max for long term capital gains income. Combine that with the aforementioned sheltering strategies and they get off pretty easy compared to us common folk.

There is more at play than just the components. The amount of velocity change imparted depends on the mass too. As an extreme example, a bus hits a car, the car gets punted while the bus just slows down a little. The crash between a big old 4x4 tank of an SUV and a Tesla would have a lesser version of that, but the person in the Tesla would still probably get more forces applied to them than the person in the SUV.

It's NOT easy to find hardware backdoors and we already are infected with them by our own government. We've also infected the rest of the world with OUR hardware backdoors. The computer you're on now probably has one or more. This is about the US government leveraging the fact that they need our tech and we don't need theirs. Forcing our backdoors on then while avoiding theirs. If we can pull it off, it's strategically advantageous. Ideally for the world, both countries would be forced to stop the BS.
