At least nobody is going to freeze to death because of this.
Thanks for the unwitting update! What we can tell from this inappropriately angry little rant is that you're a Nvidia corporate stooge and they're running scared today over this news.
Why would someone mod this down? Sympathy for the imposter?
What I had heard alleged was that the Munich thing was just an elaborate ruse to get Microsoft to lower their prices, but then once they did, they had to stage a user-competence disaster to make it seem like the cheaper price was somehow better than free.
Heh, am I really? I think you'd better look more closely at that "Active Directory" server that's been sitting there since the founding of your company and was set up by someone who was quickly let go and forgotten about...
I was surprised to find out that it's not uncommon for "Windows-only" IT departments to think they're using Active Directory when actually they're using OpenLDAP.
I'm sure the only reason they've finally decided to fix this because I simply stopped using my phone.
Truthfully, the practical applications for this technology are 10% clever novelty and 90% pure, utterly society-destroying evil, so I'd say we all dodged a bullet on this one, if I wasn't sure some other jackasses were just going to take up the charge instead.
Cloud seeding is something we've known about for decades if not centuries, but there's cleaner ways to do it than with jet engine exhaust.
I should have included this in the parent post, but to be clear, I think that there's a real risk of the "delayed" nature of some of the tie-on effects of global warming to even cause direct disturbances in the conversation of whether we're even actually fixing anything, when we do fix it.
Don't forget that even if we do actually "fix it" there will still be at least a good decade of delayed effects of the damage causing temperature increases and other types of disturbances globally.
Why do you assume that the hardware running the simulation has problems with keeping the state of every particle in the universe?
Exactly; thank you. People should also get over the false dichotomy that if matter itself is simulated, consciousness and free will can't exist. "Cogito ergo sum."
replying to undo accidental moderation, should have been +1 funny
