Although they claimed complete anonymity (and they were probably right since they were just measuring waves and not recording them), our local news-radio station was going on and on about how they were tracking traffic near Obama to check for non-disclosed road closures by tracking cell-phones--specifically finding areas where cellphones in roads suddenly stop and cluster.
Of course, not being around in 10 years doesn't mean you can't be profitable now if your prepared to drop everything once the market shifts. After all, they are losing almost a million per month...last February money around the lines of $50 million was offered for the company...
Once I saw this was wired (obviously), I started to wonder about the practicality of this (ignoring all the rights issues). I mean fairly common phones are one thing. But for those of us who buy the cheaper phones...usually they use fairly obscure power/data jacks (so they can charge us an arm and a leg for power cables when they break or get lost). It'd be quite annoying to carry about a few hundred different cables...
You can get most of the information from your bosses Youtube and Flickr account. And he'd like to see you in his office about what couldn't be posted on those sites.
Off topic so I'll delete my karma bonus for this post but...
Your sig interested me so I researched it. And while I don't claim to side with Ms. Rand, she didn't actively seek Medicare/Social Security--in fact, she fought against getting it but, after several arguments, gave in and simply gave her power of attorney to a loved one who signed her up. The relative assumed it was "ok" because "she paid into it..."
Doesn't mean a thing in modern anime--aside from those classic 80s series like Legend of the Galactic Heroes or the original Gundam. The weight of death in anime is such that most people outright deny when their favorite character is dead--and 9 times out of 10 are right. From wishing them back to life to beating up death, meeting them in a parallel world or just plain figuring out they faked their own death...
basic human rights must be those that are necessary for the healthy production, growth and continued life of a human being in reasonably respectable conditions. Maybe after an overwhelming majority of all people on this planet have these rights we can consider expanding it to "access to a world-wide communication network". Until then there's an overwhelming majority of peoples in all countries and societies that simply don't *need* the internet.
Yeah slashdot needs more stories about people hacking popular FPS websites (story 3), the release of tech magazines (13) and porn stars managing their own websites (16). What do you think this is: a personal blog!?
While I can't stand the organization for its politics, policies, origins, higher-up administrators and more recent scandals, I will admit that going out and camping once a month with zero electronics helped give me the patience I need to proudly say amongst a group of internet addicted college-student peers: "Nah, I'll check [my e-mail] later."
I'm so tired of this crap. The Greek's stole from the Egyptians. The Romans from the Greeks. Great artists always imitate and copy from their predecessors so they can learn--Science and Technology should be no different. Progress is going to crawl to a greedy halt if we keep up this patent bullcrap. Ultimately society becomes a better place when people do things for the greater good. Thank god Penicillin wasn't patented. Putting a patent on a strand of DNA is ridiculous. I just wish I was old enough to have thought of patenting the patent process.
Don't forget schools. Art schools have to buy tons of licenses with each new version release (although they are usually a version or two behind since CS2).
Did they sign a contract you made to that or another effect along the lines of "if I ever want to charge you, I will." (Of course they send prior notice...albeit usually in 5 point font in what feels like a spam mailing to encourage it being dumped and forgotten about.)
If more people cooked their own food they'd have not only a better appreciation of it and be more likely to eat everything they made (and eat healthier), but would save money and stop the wasteful practices of many prefab food companies. I know a lot of these companies sell their excess food to one another (or use it in other products), but I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the "30% waste" is on the developer's end, not the consumers.
