Most people that claim high availability almost *never* make any changes to anything. The mainframe world is rife with resistance to change because of it. High availability is easy if you never change anything. Most of the outages with most systems are caused by human error, and most happen when deploying updates. High availability seems to carry a lot of weight, but usually doesn't cover all it should.
Sometimes you get all three (Linux, Android, etc), but not this time.
Good, free, but not open source.
I look at it the other way. Microsoft products do not fully work with open formats. Public institutions really should be using open formats.
Or, people that would normally buy a console but who don't want the hassle of picking a video card, making sure their wifi card works with Linux, etc.
That's the *important* difference though.
It sounds like you're agreeing with me. You'd be happier with a lighter laptop.

Notice they're heading for an Apple-like model? Hardware margins will be fine when they only allow MS software to run on their hardware.
It's really just a touchscreen laptop with a crappy keyboard. Yes, it's more functional than most tablets, but there are more powerful laptops about the same size and weight with better performance, etc. They're pretty much functionally equivalent, aren't they?
Having to buy a developer licence qualifies as 'easily', in my opinion. The rest of the stuff is also 'for now'. As it is, there are already apps that can only be run if they're installed through the OSX app store. The concern is that things will keep heading this way. I see I've been modded down again though, so I guess there's no worry for Apple people. Enjoy. Let's see what happens.
I think feeling is that they are moving OSX towards more of an iOS/Windows 8 model where you are not allowed to installed arbitrary software easily if at all.
