20,000 yen is less than $200 USD. Plenty of people carry around cash amounts in excess of $200 USD that they could also lose.

Having Apple Pay or similar tied to a credit card provides protection from unauthorized purchases/fraud while also allowing a much higher limit than $200 USD.

I have health problems that prevent me from riding. Sucks, as I used to ride all the time. Then had to sell my bike one day and stop. Still, I wish there was more biking infrastructure around where I live.

Each product spec sheet should include a list of all countries that will be spying on you as a result of your purchase. Then you can compare various models and decide who would make you most happy if they were to know everything about you. Customer transparency. Customer choice. Even Apple can get behind that!

Salaries are very local. Sure $87K/yr is low for 5 yrs exp in NYC or SF, but in some parts of the country, that's a decent senior engineer salary, especially if the job has other benefits like 40 hr work weeks, flex scheduling, overtime, pension, health care, etc.
