The frequency of your incomming AC isn't quite the stable 50/60Hz but they tend to correct it so it averages out to perfect 50/60Hz on a long enough time scale. As I understand it, they use this same type of correction to account for leap seconds, which help keep a lot of cheap clocks running accurately.
This is a story I heard over a decade ago from an electronics teacher, don't know if it's actually true.

Nothing flash-in-the-pan about domain-specific languages.
In fact, it's generally considered a smart thing to create domain-specific languages.
You might well have unknowingly created your own, while expanding your configuration file format.
There's no point in learning any of them unless you actually need them, though.

Point is, it's perfectly possible for governments to legally require chips that would regulate and uniquely identify 3D printers.
GP's point was that government cannot possibly regulate 3D printers. Quite obviously they can regulate printers, so why not 3D printers?
Sure, it won't stop dedicated people from printing "illegal" objects, but the remaining 99.999% of 3D printers would be controlled.

Whether he was a traitor or a patriot depends on whether you consider the US government a god-like entity that can do no wrong or one somewhat more human and flawed that requires checks and bounds.

A coward, however, he is most assuredly not, for it takes some huge pair of balls to go up against a government which you have just discovered through objective evidence will stop at nothing, neither legal nor illegal, moral nor immoral, just nor unjust, to wreak vengeance.
