Comment Similarities between NRA-ists and Jihadists (Score 1) 573

When a massacre happens, such as yesterday in Paris or in at any school in the USA or just when a politician is shot in the face:

Gun activist say: "It wasn't gun owners!!!"
Religious Aplogists say: "It weren't Muslims!!!"

But as a journalist said this morning in the post:

" It's war, but only one side is shooting."

Except that The World doesn't speak English.

We do speak a ton of other languages, some potentially rivalling English as "lingua franca" such as Spanish, Mandarin and Hindi.

I really don not understand why under the moniker "The World" you guys in America always make the assumption "World=USA"

Even is sports, which is actually laughable as your "football" and "baseball" are nothing but exotic games seen in the movies for the rest of the planet were we play _real_ FOOTBALL, and of course talk in a myriad of local languages and most of them will be doing all right in 100 years too.

And we can all recall Howard Hughes, a billionaire as eccentric and any and who actually produced quite a bunch of breaking tech.

These guys do have a lot of money, and they can just go and invest a part of it in something they fancy, even if it doesn't make sense. If it does, they will have hit the jackpot as Hughes did, of not, well, they had their fun.

I don't understand all this bitching: They have the funds and they do what they want with it, right? It's always better than investing in churches and / or think tanks trying to tell us that tobacco is good for health or that Jesus worked as a cowboy in a dinosaur farm.

Comment Making a bomb without Scientists? (Score 1) 292

All is nice and very cool, but the US "investigators" forget a few facts:

A) Europe is not a dark place hidden in the dark jungles of Africa: We are at least as devolped as any of the most developed places in the USA, yes, Austria too.

B) We know our history pretty well, and it happens that the Nazis, as good Germans, wrote down every single thing that they did in minute detail. Hell, we even have the time tables of the trains carrying people to Auschwitz! This "secret" complex is far from secret, and it even has it's very own Wikipedia page:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/B...
(In German).

C) The Germans did an excellent job in getting rid of ANY scientist that could have been able to build a basic _reactor_. The only person in Germany that had an idea about fission was Otto Hahn, and he was completely ignored by the military and would have otherwise extremely reluctant to participate as he was involved in helping Germans of jewish religion to escape the country. And for the less agile of mind: No Fission = No U238 / No PU239 = NO Friggin' BOMB.

D) Despite it's "German" Name, Oppenheimer, the father of the A-Bomb' is as USian as a bucket full of burgers, born in NYC (which is NOT a part of Austria, AFAIK)

E) The only reason that Germany still exists today and is not a radioactive crater is that the Allies knew they had no bomb, else they would have called in the Little Boy and the Fat Man to pay my adoptive country a visit (for the slower of mind: That were the names of the two A-Bombs used to nuke the fuck out of Hiroshima and Nagasaki)

Shit, maybe this explains my love for lighting crosses in my neighbors backyards and my love for guns... We are unfortunately not allowed to own our own howitzers and ground-to-ground missiles and as we aren't quite religious here our local extremist Hutaree militia meetings are rather boring.

Indeed. I have also a few Mayan friends. If I don't recall it wrongly 70% of the population of Guatemala is Mayan, right?

The Mayan classical culture disappeared, being one of the reason that the Mayan themselves went tired of tyrants and went back to living outside of the great cities in small communities as you are doing right now.

Not to speak about Jesus, who was a native Amsterdammer, as it is easy to notice by his blond long hair and stoned look. He just walked over there and discovered America one day he went to visit a Rastafarian friend of his to buy some weed.
