Submission + - Judges Reject Appeals From Webcasters

YeSL writes: Internet radio broadcasters were dealt a setback Monday when a panel of copyright judges threw out requests to reconsider a ruling that hiked the royalties they must pay to record companies and artists. A broad group of public and private broadcasters, including radio stations, small startup companies, National Public Radio and major online sites like Yahoo Inc. and Time Warner Inc.'s AOL, had objected to the new royalties set March 2, saying they would force a drastic cutback in services that are now enjoyed by some 50 million people.

Feed Fujitsu intros P70WN, P50WN convertible tablets (engadget.com)

Fujitsu seems to be keeping up a steady pace with its convertible tablet PCs these days, introducing another pair of new ultralight models for those willing to accept a few trade-offs in favor of portability. The processor looks to be the biggest difference between the two models here, with the P70WN packing a Core Solo U1400 processor and the P50WN opting for a Celeron M443 instead. Otherwise, each will give you the same 8.9-inch touchscreen with a 1280x768 resolution, and between 60 and 80GB of hard drive space, with the whole thing barely weighing you down at about 2.2 pounds. Unfortunately, there's no word on pricing or availability, although we suspect it'll be spending some time in Japan before the rest of us can get our hands on it.

Submission + - One Terabyte! How am I going to store that much!

aeroseth writes: "Tom's Hardware Guide is reporting on Hitachi's new 7K1000 Terabyte Hard Drive.
On March 16, 2007, UPS delivered to our storage test lab a shipment from Hitachi, which we had anticipated for several weeks. The box contained the world's first hard drive with a total capacity of 1 terabyte (1 TB): the Deskstar 7K1000."

Submission + - T-Rex are chickens

semiotec writes: Scientist have found that the collagen from a fossilized T-Rex matches more closely to chicken collagen than other species (http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/316/58 22/277). While this merely "confirms" what we already know from the movie-documentary "Jurassic Park" (relax, it's a joke), the other interesting part here is that they managed to run protein (Western) blot and mass spectrometry on a fossilized tissue/protein sample. And all this just to let us know what most of us have already suspected: dinosaurs tasted like chickens.
