Submission + - Can Robot Competitions Save U.S. STEM Education? 1

theodp writes: Tonight at 8pm ET, CNN is airing Don't Fail Me: Education in America. The documentary (trailer) follows three high school students in the national FIRST Robotics competition, which aims to get kids inspired to study math and science. Be interesting to see if CNN host Soledad O'Brien (who ironically chose a TV career over science herself) also interviews the national champs who were coached by NASA and MIT (Holy Pinewood Derby, Batman!). So, can robot competitions save U.S. STEM Education? Google seems to think so, based upon the $3 million it awarded FIRST last September as a Project 10^100 winner.

I find it interesting that you recommended a program that does exactly what the ATO is proposing.

From my workrave statistics:
Date: 5/4/2011 from 9:07 AM to 6:17 PM
Mouse usage: 36:56
Mouse movement 366.80 m
Effective mouse movement: 256.91 m
Mouse button clicks: 1731
Keystrokes: 5935

I do not see a way in the preferences to disable statistics monitoring, either.
