The sooner we impose heavy tariffs on goods from countries that do not meet certain requirements for human rights and environmental policy, the better. We could do it now. It will hurt, but we could manage. If we wait a few decades, it will be too late.
Companies do not own words because they used them first. It's one thing to outright steal the name of a product. It's another thing to claim you own every word in that product's name.
If you name your product with a word that describes some important aspect of your product, it will not get a trademark. Want to call your car company "Emu Cars"? You can get a trademark. If you want to call your car company "Wheels Cars"? You cannot go after people for using the world "Wheels" in their ads and descriptions.
Therefore, there is no way you can get a trademark on your graphical windowing system called "Windows".
It does have to do with a walled garden. A company can make a possibly frivilous complaint againt the garden owner who can then kick you out, and you have no recourse. If it was not a walled garden and you could sell your app independently, the claimant would have to go after you directly, and you would have the opportunity to legally defend yourself.
"Based on a true story" means there may be a sliver of what actually happened in the movie, but you will not be able to pick it out. What actually happened is a more amazing story - some fantastic educators manged to build a cohesive multi-year plan to shepherd these kids through school - years and years of it, not just one miracle year - to help them reach their potential, and then saw the administrators destroy what they had built.

I do not vote for judges who claim to be "tough on drugs/drug offenders" or judges who advertise their high conviction rate. (Which is pretty much all of them.) I want correct interpretation of the law and presumption of innocence, not jails full of non-violent offenders. The last one I remember voting for advertised that she (as a private lawyer) had success getting bad laws knocked down and going after corrupt politicians. She lost.
