You're trolling, but here I am responding. Sigh.

The 16 mm movie camera was no doubt physically attached to the lunar module cabin, and the flight plan simply didn't call for detaching and abandoning it. Consider that it also probably was used to record other things, such as descent, ascent, rendezvous, etc.

The Apollo 11 astronauts did leave behind a small fortune in camera equipment: the Hasselblad cameras used to record the moonwalks. They only brought back the exposed film. This was done to lighten the lunar module, and to compensate for the moon rocks they did in fact bring back.

The government's pockets are so deep and grant money comes in such a torrent that when I left my job as a scientist funded by government grant money to work a similar job in private enterprise my salary only doubled.

This blew up my sarcasm detector.

Some people seem to think that working as a scientist from government grants is a gravy train. It is not. Competition is significant: typically, out of every 5 to 10 grant applications, only one gets funded. Scientists spend a great deal of time writing proposals that never get funded.

Alarmists and green organisations are DOWN RIGHT AGGRESSIVE. They always have been.
They call for no less than:

- The death penalty
- Jail time for people expressing their opinions
- Murder
- Exploding heads of those who dont tow the line (look at the propaganda video)

Citations please. Especially the alleged "propaganda video."

Why is learning a foreign language so important that we should dedicate 4 semesters to it (especially when most people don't learn it to the point where it could become directly useful in their daily lives)?

At the very least, it lets you appreciate the struggle that others face when they speak your language as a second language.

One of the major goals of education is the development of an appreciation of the condition of others on many levels -- not just social, but cultural, geographical, historical, technological... and linguistic. You won't necessarily become an expert on the differences we all have, but you do learn that we are different, and to appreciate it.
