That's all.

>The artificial neural nets do function somewhat similar to human brains.
What? No, no sorry. We can't even begin to create ones that have the structure and function like brains on an electrical level. What about all those tasty neurotransmitting chemicals in the brain? Are those modeled in artificial neural nets? What do they do, because medical science is still trying to find that out, perhaps the computer scientists know already!
I don't need to create philosophical, scientific or logical definitions of intelligence or reasoning to know that current AI isn't that at all, no matter how you slice it.
If you just look at the details of how it is working you can tell there is no intelligence or reasoning going on.
It's not a "word game" to draw valid distinctions that push the conversation forward. This is not a distinction, it's a definition. I guess not liking definitions are very typical for people with your political affiliation. They don't like to get bogged down in that little thing called "truth".
The truth here is you are being the one who is disagreeable, and this isn't just a word game.
Anything "new" created by the AI is from it's training data. Is that a correct statement, or not?
If it is, then AI is producing nothing new at all.
Are you saying the current state of "AI" has anything to do with intelligence or understanding?
I may not be able to define them to your philosophical sensibilities, but I sure know when I *don't* see it, based on the details of what is happening internal to the systems.
>but no capability to apply either.
So, all that would be necessary in your view would be to give chatGPT autonomy to direct it's own searches and knowledge to questions it finds on the internet (say) and reply to those and you would consider it smart?
> it won't be long before its descendants are replacing most of the factory workers around the world.
You would think that, wouldn't you. That normal, everyday labor, the kind humans are really good at, would be easy for AI. Turns out that it's *really hard*. Much much harder than producing a painting or writing a novel, apparently.
Go away. I would be happy for AI to rule your life too, with you having such an attitude.
Blech. You need bleach for your mind.
>people with no ability to cope with AI systems will be forced to leave to countries that shun AI.
I suppose. I have never seen someone who can't "cope with AI systems". I suspect that would be a mental disorder or some sort.
>"illegal" immigration is caused by the intentional destruction of the quality of life from the country from which they came from.
This is a conspiracy theory level charge and I welcome any attempt you have to back it up. Most of the places are just having their *own* hard times. No need for some foreign influence nefariously in the background causing them to fail.
>Good god nobody would ever want to live in the US by choice if they weren't born on US soil.
Now I know you are off the reservation. I don't know what drugs you have been doing but you need to put them down for a while, okay?
The rest of you post reads like a bunch of complaints with no real point.
>I would not fly in a plane designed with the help of AI.
You are an idiot, then.
There are many forms of AI and they are already being used in every major engineering challenge we face today, and most minor ones.
What do you think the computer simulations of laminar and turbulent flow are but specific AIs to deal with fluids and shapes?
>. Also, I wonder if everyone took the time to understand how Bitcoin specifically works, would they still call it a scam.
I have and I do. I'm sure that most people who have would.
>Any sudden influx of money would instantly raise red flags.
Are there regulations that a company knows who has it's shares? How do these "red flags" of yours actually work? Can a company keep a Russian oligarch from buying shares undeclared through a shell company, etc?
Yes, but it is what they are doing with it that counts.
If the majority of Rust work is rewriting C++ code that's a lot easier.
For most of these artists, it's all about the money, and nothing else.
For music consumers it makes little difference as long as they enjoy the music and I think that's why artists are scared.
