Journal Journal: Moderator points! At long last!!!

At long last, I now have moderator points. I've been focusing on things outside my Slashdot-troll life, and I haven't gotten into any large flamewars with anyone recently. I apparently met the appropriate requirements to get mod points.

Metamoderating probably helped also.

w00t!

You have 5 Moderator Points! Use 'em or lose 'em!

Journal Journal: Quotes by EnronHaliburton2004

"Honey, I love you, but I'm tired of you talking about this stuff. Why don't you talk to your nerd friends on Slashweb or whatever it's called".

Journal Journal: Poll: Worst arrest (innocent or guilty) of your lifetime? 7

I submitted this as a Slashdot poll, but I doubt it will be accepted (bad formatting, they never accept my stuff).

I dug this up from an old post.

---------------------------

Worst arrest of your lifetime:

1. Never. I'm a law abiding citizen.
2. Never. I run away.
3. A few misdemenors
4. Violent offense
5. Alcohol or drug-related offenses
6. Non-financial-fraud related theft offenses
7. I'm writing this from death row.
8. I stole the money, burned down the office and now live on a beach in Mexico with my red stapler.
9. It's copyright infringement, not stealing.
10. In a past life I ruled the world with an Iron first, Crushed my enemies, saw them driven before me, and heard the lamentations of their women!

Journal Journal: Quote Archive: Work Harder! A Few Corporations Receive ... 5

Just storing anoter one of my .sigs for evidence when the feds drag me off to the camps.

Work Harder! A Few Corporations Receive Millions in Welfare and Are Depending On You!

I replaced it with the following shocking statistic:

94% of Republicans voted to renew the Patriot Act in 2005

(I hope the math is right. 214 votes for the act / 231 total votes = 94% ).

Journal Journal: Dear Red States, from New California 7

Dear Red States,

We're ticked off at the way you've treated California, and we've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii,Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and all the Northeast. We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, and especially to the people of the new country of New California.

To sum up briefly: You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states. We get stem cell research and the best beaches. We get Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay. We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand. We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom. We get Harvard. You get Ole'Miss.

We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs. You get Alabama. We get two-thirds of the tax revenue; you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we're going to want all our citizens back from Iraq at once. If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They have kids they're apparently willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't care if you don't show pictures of their children's caskets coming home.

With the Blue States in hand, we will have firm control of 80 percent of the country's fresh water, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 95 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools, plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States, on the other hand, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans (and their projected health care costs), 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, nearly 100 percent of the tornadoes, 90 percent of the hurricanes, 99 percent of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

Additionally, 38 percent of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62 percent believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44 percent say that evolution is only a theory, 53 percent that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

By the way, we're taking the good pot, too. You can have that dirt weed they grow in Mexico.

Sincerely,

Author Unknown in New California

Journal Journal: Trollbot(?) sightings - Random Citibank/UPS responses 3

Anyone else notice the ton of random AC reponses to the last few submissions? Probably 50% of the articles are way offtopic--- talking about Citibank or UPS instead of Japanese Geek Underground.

http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/06/07/1622203&tid=99

Interesting new Trollbot?

Most of the responses seem to focus on financial or privacy issues with the recent UPS/Citibank issue. I wonder if some trollbot is simply copying the the responses from an old response and pasting it into the response form.

Or perhaps it's not a trollbot, and the Database is screwed up.

Journal Journal: "Megatroll" - 80 responses about mobile phones & sms! 1

Woot. My intention wasn't trolling, but I spawned a thread about Mobile Phones & SMS with 80 responses so far (rough estimate).

I think that beats my previous record, which was about was 74 responses.

My intention is not trolling... I'm just posting my gut feeling about some dumb technologies. Ah, but what a response from this pro-technology group, eh?

The editors should pay me for my pageviews :)

Journal Journal: 3rd party cookies being set during Google Searches? 4

I noticed a change in when using Google to search. When I receive the Google search results page, one of the advertising sites tries to set a cookie on my machine. This has happened with eBay (since they advertise on just about every page), and a few other groups.

- Turn on cookie detection
- Click on the following link: http://www.google.com/search?q=dynamic+dns
- dyndns.org tries to set a cookie

I just throught it was wierd. Maybe this was happening before, and I didn't notice it, or I was blocking third party cookies.

I just thought it was interesting.

Journal Journal: Update: You have over 200 friends and foes. (Thank you!) 8

Update:

Some kind person just bought me a subscription!

Thank you!
----------------------------------------

Holy crap-- I hit the upper limit on the number of relationships.

I tried to add Branden Robinson the Debian leader because he listened to my comments in this discussion. But this action brought me to the 200-relationship limit, and got the following message:

You have over 200 friends and foes at the moment.

This puts you over our limit of 200 relationships that we allow. At this point you may only remove relationships with users.

So do you want to remove your relationship with Overfiend?

I don't want to de-friend people, so I guess I'll start de-foe people. It's better to encourage your friends then to punish your foes.

Journal Journal: Pres. Bush and Jeanna Bush flash sign of Satan! 11

Before President Bush's swear in ceremony, Jeanna Bush flashed the "El Coronado" hand signal announcing her allegiance to Satan.

Update, Jan 20 @3:30PM

Later that day, President Bush made it clear that he too was a Satanist.

Update, Jan 21 @9:00AM

My god, there's a whole league of Satanists, include Bill Clinton, Prince William and Elizabeth Taylor!!! Although half of those are ASL for "I love you".

For reference, here is the famous photo of Anton Lavey, founder of the Church of Satan, descretely displaying "The Symbol" ... ok, his hand is reversed...

Journal Journal: I can't even meta-moderate 5

It's come to my attention that I cannot even meta-moderate on Slashdot.

I have never seen the little "Have you Meta Moderated recently? Regular Meta Moderators are more likely to get mod points." line across the top of my screen with this account.

Dang...
