It was the advertising that make it clear what these apps were being pitched as.

I saw some on Twitter. They showed a guy sending a fake nude to a woman, who then begged him to delete it, saying "please, I'll do anything!" So pretty clearly a rape app, sold as being useful for blackmailing women for sexual favours.

Apple doesn't allow such apps. I'm sure the developer of "Drunk Slut Location Pro" would argue that it is merely designed to help render medical assistance to vulnerable women who made poor life choices, but they wouldn't be fooling anyone.

I'm curious what you think would make European workplaces worse? The shorter hours, the right to disconnect out of hours, your employment rights?

While it is difficult to separate workplace from everything else, unless you can point to some aspect of European employment that clearly makes it worse than the US, I don't think this argument holds much water.

It's not the manufacturing, e.g. Apple stuff is made in China but with Apple tech. It's the fact that the Western tech is inferior to the Chinese stuff.

It's not just drones either. FLIR had the market cornered for thermal cameras, but now a Chinese company offers higher resolution sensors with a better frame rate and similar accuracy, for a fraction of the cost. Chinese EV batteries are second to none. Chinese phone cameras surpassed everyone except maybe Google some years ago. In the HiFi world Chinese brands now produce some of the best gear on the market. Chinese EVs rival German luxury cars for quality.

We need to get innovating and competing again. We got complacent and slowed our R&D. Trade wars and bans are not a solution.

Apparently they're not THAT smart...to date, pretty much all they've done (with our blessing) is steal our US tech and use it against us....

DJI is the market leader in drone tech because their tech is the best. It can't be stolen because it's better than everyone else's.

That's the real issue here. DJI is dominating the market because they have better products and are first to market with new features. Like Huawei, that is a problem for Western rivals, so they are pushing for a ban.

You must have worse tech and pay more for it, because Western companies failed to compete effectively.

Maybe your privacy settings are too low to see it, but it doesn't actually matter if you get the answers right or not. If your browser blocks fingerprinting, if you are using a VPN or even just an ISP with CGNAT, you can click the right squares over and over and it will still keep you there for a minute or two. It seems like when your IP address isn't unique and when your browser isn't letting it spy, it just puts in massive delay to slow down suspected spammers.

Ironically there is now a market for AI captcha solvers because humans are fed up of this shit.

You are reading a lot into my comment that wasn't there. My point was that while racism is unacceptable, we tried telling people not to be racist and it didn't work as well as dealing with the root causes of it. So let's deal with the root causes.

Your point about being an observant Jew vs and ethnic one is just a question of semantics. If the intent is to boycott the Jewish religion, say because it practices genital mutilation, then it's up to the people making the protest to be careful to avoid harming ethnic Jews who don't do that. It's not easy, it doesn't always happen and sometimes innocent people are harmed... But the alternative is not being able to effectively protest things like that.

I hate to say it, but that's the kind of argument that actual Zionists like to use to claim Anti-Semitism when none exists, i.e. to co-opt the Jewish identity to protect themselves. Not all Zionists are Jewish, and many of them are Anti-Semites, but that distinction is one that they are not keen to make.

I don't expect people to stop being critical of Islam or predominantly Asian countries/communities, even though sometimes it's bad for me. I expect them to make the distinction.

Yes, I had the same thing after 9/11, still do.

I actually read that book not long after it was published. He has some good points, but I don't agree with all of it. It's not entirely true to say that some of the things he complains about are unique to Jews in the UK, like hiding their ethnicity. Lots of other BAME people do that, myself included.

I don't think it's racist to say that Zionists have made things much, much more dangerous for Jews, just like Islamic terrorists made things much worse for Muslims and indeed anyone with brown skin. It doesn't justify the racism in any way, or excuse it, it just identifies how we got to this situation. For what it's worth, I think most of the pro-Palestinian protestors have been careful to make the distinction, especially since many of them are Jewish.

Sorry if that seems like "jumping", but it's an accurate description of the state of things today.

I've had this first hand. Like you, it had nothing to do with me, and I couldn't do anything about it. People wanted to know why I wasn't out there protesting against the terrorism, like that would have helped. I joke about it, but more than once I've been met with a look of fear when someone learned my identity.

I still don't want the religious protections though.

We have an in going genocide that is the first to be live streamed and documented on social media in real time. It's hard not to feel outraged at what is happening, and frankly it's hard to see how the state of Israel can come back from this without some huge changes. The Zionists have over played their hand, but it goes deeper than that. There are huge social problems in Israel, maybe worse than SA was.

I'm not trying to tell you how you should live your life, but we have to be able to criticise Israel and Zionists. It's a matter of life and death. It's really unfortunate, but believe me when I say I understand from personal experience. I'm not the one you should be angry at.
