As opposed to people with nativist and inward looking views, companies like Apple HAVE to work overseas, and if you keep following the US govt kool-aid, then you will only be able to do business with Western Europe and other allies.

I recently saw a very insightful interview where dictatorships are defined by things you cannot criticize, like the CCP in China, Kim Jong-un in Korea, etc. In the US the thing that will absolutely get you canceled will be talking about the Israeli lobby and the influence such a small group holds over US culture in general. Stewart did a light skit once about the subject and even jokingly he recognized that he probably shouldn't be talking about that (and the man is Jewish himself).

You would be naive to think that Putin alone started this crisis. This is a power struggle that started since the events from the Euromaidan. But Ukraine aside, the EU are solely responsible for their energy crisis, because while trying to do heavy economic sanctions on Russia they ended up shooting themselves in the foot. If you run a burger shop you better don't start a fight with your meat provider until you have a reliable supply somewhere else. I understand the Russians are the sworn enemy of the EU but that was a stupid move no matter how you see it, since not only it did not hurt the Russian economy but ended up destroying Europe's prosperity instead. Just saw that they will need to throw away $500 billion in subsidies just to allow people to have payable energy bills.

Windows 10 is not bad in that regard. My main beef with it is the whole automatic updates saga, which when you have to rely on a metered connection becomes extremely painful. Kind of the same deal with the constant >1GB console/games updates but I guess I just have to become more connected :(

Look closely why the Russians acted that way. They were being pushed. If somebody started crap in Cuba, where Guantanamo is, or Bahrain or Japan, where the US has bases, you can be a 100% the US will make sure shit hits the fan.

So number one fact that happened, EU sponsored coup d'etat against a pro-Russian govt in the Ukraine, where they have this major base in Crimea. Conclusion: Russians annexed Crimea and supported rebels in the East.

Number two: Trying to forcefully remove Bashar Al Assad from Syria. That Russian base they have in Tartus was not going to defend itself and they are not going to lose their only base in the Mediterranean like that.

So again, it is just crude politics and pissing contests. Let go of the Cold War mentality because starting similar crap with someone like China, will take us back ages ago.
