Why a desktop needs 3d acceleration is beyond me. All research into computer interface design indicate that the concept "black cockpit" is the best When a game or a film making application drives hardware levels I can understand it but not when a workbench or a desktop does it.

Am I the only one here to get a bad taste from this. Take a loved childtoy and a open operaring system and develp a weapon? This is somthing I expected from the bully in ToyStory. Why not develop a electric chair from lego controlled by android when you already have started?

Yes this is interesting. Why cant we have components that stands for 110C then we could use the computers as water boilers and get steam out for heating or turbines.
