H2 requires a constant reliable base load like nuclear power, if not, you get explosions. It also requires expensive metals to do reliably.

H2 is probably the future in the long term but it requires a lot more development and investment which is currently consumed by short term solutions like EV and solar.

Other than for industrial vehicles, I’m not seeing any indication that H2 infrastructure costs are coming down or the conversion losses being properly addressed?

TikTok itself is banned inside China. Many western social media and news organizations are also banned there. The precedence is already there.

The difference between trolls and bot farms and manipulation directly from the social media platform is gas lighting is significantly easier. The platform has all of a user's graph data and can directly measure engagement with manipulative content. If they detect any engagement they can push less subtle manipulative content and accelerate as they measure increased engagement.

Trolls and bot farms don't have the same level of feedback. They're certainly not ineffective but their targeting is not nearly as precise. TikTok in particular is problematic in that Chinese intelligence services have direct access to and influence on the platform.

This is concerning not just with telemetry and graph data but also influence campaigns. Because the weighs in "the algorithm" of any social media feed are completely opaque to the end user there's no way to know the difference between organic content, stuff the user engaged with knowingly, and content inserted to wag the dog. This is used by platforms for advertising but works the exact same way for manipulating for any reason.

Despite the issues, Apple got some real feedback, in a way lab testing would not have revealed. I am feeling hopeful that theyâ(TM)ll take what they learnt and make something even better. I say this based on experiences like the iPod, the iPad and the iPhone, which while not immediate successes did far better than the alternatives.

You could not code most of those and even apply the most advanced compression and have the result fit in a dvd. And yet there you are managing it.

No. It works completely different from a chemical cell, which is what people mean when they say battery.

Maybe a bad choice of words, but invariably the car's propulsion is electric. Whether a traditional battery or a fuel cell, it is form of energy storage for what is otherwise an electric car.

I get that people want to wear their politics on their sleeves and complain that their gigantic multinational employer does business with X, but ultimately you work somewhere and if you disturb the peace, you are going to be fired.

This is the truth. Unless you are shareholder or part of the executive, you are there to perform a job requested of you. Also, unless you are working for a cooperative, a business is typically a dictatorship by default. If you don't like it, then get out (there are other jobs out there), or put up.

At the same time, H2 is really just another type of battery, so as battery technology gets better I’d suspect H2 would become less interesting. We should also remember H2, is likely produced either from oil & gas or from electricity, so we need to add a conversion loss to the equation.
