Is he though? Did you read his actual opinions on vaccines? Or are you just participating in a smear campaign? Heâ(TM)s a lawyer who sued the pharmaceutical industry for some vaccine shenanigans and during the process called for more oversight on vaccines.

Intel spent a decade under-spending on fabs while jerking off their investors with obvious bullshit at earnings that somehow kept their share price up. TSMC can build a modern fab in 1.5 years and pumps out a new one every year or two while Intel has been "trying" to build a single modern fab for 7 years and has nothing to show for it. After a decade of investor gift they are hemorrhaging market share and asking for a bail-out. The icing on the cake is that both TSMC and Samsung are already building fabs in the US that will be online fairly soon now (late this year or early 23) and these factories are already funded and didn't require a hundred billion dollars of tax money (a single fab costs ~20 billion).

If I had to choose between owning equities in a chip manufacturer with excellent performance and aggressive cap-ex (tsmc) and a chip manufacturer with a 7 year history of failing to build a modern fab that's hoping tax payers will bail them out of their incompetence (intel) I'd still choose the former and still be mad about the later receiving my tax dollars. Participating in the other half of capitalism is exactly why you should be mad about this bullshit.

The problem is that even if Intel starts doing everything better right now, they are years behind where they need to be. Their fab is dogshit compared to the 5nm process TSMC uses for the M1. Intel wants to outsource to get around this problem but the only great fab right now is TSMC and they are always going to sell their best and newest process capacity to apple first.

Apple's offering isn't really much about ARM though. ARM is a known quantity and if ARM laptops were great it would have happened years ago. What's changed is that Intel's fab has fallen behind and Apple can fire a shot across the bow with the quality of product that TSMC makes. If you want to compare apples to apples (heh) compare the M1 with AMDs chips while bearing in mind that apple bought out the 5nm production and AMD is buying 7nm for Ryzen. What we're really seeing is just that TSMC makes very efficient and very fast chips.
