We used to be patient, companies like GE, Union Pacific, and Boeing were good long-term investments. Now it's "What did you do last quarter."

This puts us on a losing trajectory favoring large institutional investors who sit on boards yelling for profits.

For months you've had to opt-in to allowing them to track what you watch. I didn't opt in but now I get no recommendations even when signed in. Curiously, when you watch a video the usual suggestion of videos appears when the video is done. I wonder how long it will be before they turn that off too.

It seems that the contract review and vendor selection were extremely deficient here. Hey NASA, for $2B I'll build a space refueling system for you. You'll a;sp need to pay me in advance and I'll need $1B every six mos for additional capital expenditures and resources. Of course, I won't be liable for the delivery or performance of the system and it'll take 10 years to develop.

Stanford researchers found last year that large racial and ethnic gaps in advanced math enrollment persisted even after the policy change.

If the kid doesn't want to learn, has no parental guidance, and is distracted by other things in life then he won't learn anything in school. If the parents provide an environment that fosters learning then Johnny will math. Schools can't be everything to everybody even though some see them as the solution to society's ills, they are a place to learn, not solve sociology issues with home life.

I also like that they're balancing the applicant's score against their peers at the same high school. This eliminates most of the bias

Now let's see the other Ivy League schools follow suit.

I don't see it that way. If the OEM fixes the device, they should warrant the repaired device for the repairs made for a suitable duration afterward, a year works. If you break a screen and Apple fixes your iPhone then your screen should be covered for another year, because it's new. The rest of the device should be subject to any outstanding warranty.

If a third party fixes your iPhone screen, likewise they should warrant the repair for a year and Apple should still warrant the rest of the iPhone for the remainder of its warranty.

Besides a 2024 Samsung S24 Ultra is what $1500MSRP, that's crazy. If anything this should improve the market on maintaining your older phone. My S22 needs a new, updated battery so I'll do that vs coughing up $1500.
