Yea, that's true, but the notion that a corporation can be the equivalent to a person in this context is a very modern convention that is both factually inaccurate and provably harmful.

It's really more just about cutting back on the pollution caused by all the jets and cars that would otherwise be making the journey. Trains are comparatively quite efficient.
I don't think that's true... not in every state at least, however, critically, this was not a ransomware attack. It is being mischaracterized as such, but it's actually just regular old espionage and extortion. Both of those things are a crime, and it's also a crime not to report them, as it is a crime to comply with the demands.
Nah, but you should really look into what the whole SolarWinds debacle had to do with how and why China ended up being able to steal the market for them. It's a real eye-opener.
Uh, paying the ransom is illegal, but much like antitrust law, our government seems to be completely incompetent at actual enforcement.
I know you're trying to imply here that people were arguing that there would never be enough solar because there would never be enough solar panels, but that's still just an obvious attempt to move the goal posts. People (even here on Slashdot, where they should know better) have been repeatedly alleging that there's not enough sunlight, which has been trivially disprovable the whole time, with math.
... enough solar? Now they're gonna move the goal posts and claim there will never be enough storage.
Ahem. Remember this?
The entire SolarWinds product offering could have been replaced quite effectively with OpenSSH and a couple shell scripts. Even if this wasn't a feigned fuck-up orchestrated by criminals who had more to gain by failing at their job than by succeeding at it, it would still be the biggest boondoggle of all time.
No, people did not know this. Outside a few select niches of heavily advanced computer experience, the common assumption is that Windows is faster and more secure, otherwise they'd never have achieved market domination. Most people in fact would kill themselves if they had to admit any other explanation was possible.
From the game's page in your Library, click on: Manage (the gear) -> Properties -> Compatibility -> check the box "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" then take your pick from the list. Be ready to re-download the entire game and possibly lose all your saves.
Some games might not be practical to actually patch to work without any server, but in most cases I think I would be satisfied if they would at least just release a dedicated server one could run oneself.
They literally just did that.
The boot sector virus installed by TurboTax years back (mentioned first here) persisted until it eventually derailed a forced upgrade from Windows 7, rendering her computer unbootable. This was finally the last straw for her, and as a proof-of-concept, I was allowed to install Linux on the machine so she could launch the old Windows install from a VM and finish her taxes. Years later she now recognizes Linux as inherently superior and no longer uses Windows or TurboTax! Thanks TurboTax!
"Assfucked me with evidence?" You just proved you don't know how to remount a read-only partition as read-write, and that you think you need to do it to start "user services," and that you think you need a chip made this year for basic web browsing and productivity use. You spent $10,000 on a brand new rig and now have buyer's remorse and a bad case of projection or something? You didn't show evidence of anything other than your own incompetence and conflicts-of-interest. You're a complete, absolute, incompetent, jackass. I bet you're not even 25 years old yet, calling people kids online.
"Anything slower than the absolute fastest CPU made to date is unacceptable for basic computing and anyone who says otherwise is lying, REEEEEEE!"
That's you. That's how you sound.
