Journal 793528's Journal: Interesting Slashdot UIDs: Powers of Two 4
At the time of this writing, the first 20 powers of two are represented in Slashdot UIDs. Let's take a look at them. Here they are in numerical order:
- 2^0: CmdrTaco (1)
- 2^1: Hemos (2)
- 2^2: CowboyNeal (4)
- 2^3: Emmett Plant (8)
- 2^4: Tom Rothamel (16)
- 2^5: spidey (32)
- 2^6: No user
- 2^7: xyster (128)
- 2^8: gewrgiou (256)
- 2^9: No user
- 2^10: Hoag (1024)
- 2^11: Jim Cape (2048)
- 2^12: No user
- 2^13: ahmedmaden (8192)
- 2^14: Rick Miller (16384)
- 2^15: Claudius (32768)
- 2^16: databse jedi (65536)
- 2^17: pdamany (131072)
- 2^18: Coolassmike (262144)
- 2^19: vachun (524288)
Interesting notes:
- Three users are missing!
- The famous CowboyNeal gets the symmetric 2^2 UID.
- Nine of them have posted comments, but only three (CmdrTaco, Hemos, Tom Rothamel) have posted within the last year.
- Emmett Plant is also emmett (131645), a former Slashdot story author.

Pretty good trick - Now we all wonder who is behind the curtain.

You got no freaks or fans. Must look deeper.

The unusual friends list is a list of interesting usernames I've been able to find. I think Slashdot must have changed their rules for allowed characters in usernames, because all of the weird ones seem to be low numbers.

The bogodsity filter used to ignore .sigs, and I had florid, Baroque decoration around my name in upper ASCII.
Later you couldn't add this stuff - but it would still "render".
Now I'm reduced to pompous quotations.
I will keep my eye out for more of the ./ mining you turn up!
