Can a contract signed in an ambulance or an emergency room authorizing treatment be considered free consent?
This question comes from the recent decision in Belgium to extend the right of euthanasia to children. I of course am arguing that euthanasia is never done with free consent even for adults- the pain of the disease is equivalent to a contract signed under torture, and thus cannot be considered free consent.

And that is precisely what I am saying. The situation is so awful, that the "bad solution" seems to be good when it isn't. Nobody with truly free will gets divorced or commits suicide- they're tortured into it.

That's not suicide. Few men in combat actually *want* to die. That's sacrifice, an entirely different mental process.

It depends on how good one's lawyer is.
But I think that it is not. I was in an ER one time for kidney stones. They pumped me full of something, then brought the waiver forms for some sort of scan involving radioactive contrast material. I said "I'll sign anything, because I'm so doped up there's no way the waiver will last in court." People got real fucking concerned until I lied and said that the pain meds hadn't taken effect yet.
