Flawed spam detector

It's crowdsourced (Score:2)
Posts are crowdsourced to Slashdot readers. When you click on the Slashdot Firehose [slashdot.org], there are plus and minus buttons beside each article title. If you press minus (warning, do not test! you can't undo it!), it offers tags for your reason. One of those tags is "binspam". With enough spam votes, the submission is so marked. I don't know what safeties or weights they have on this, but some Slashdotters are quite vicious and I have suffered their wrath as well.
My guess is that those people didn't know what De [wikipedia.org]
