The only concern I would have is how it dealt with high winds. Regular tents need pretty good stakes and springs or elastic straps to keep from blowing apart.

I agree - when I was in the Army, they were coming out with external frame pop/lock two-man geodesic tents - looked like Frankensteinian tumbleweeds blowing across Yakima Firing Center when not staked down or occupied.
Still, not a bad first blush from a 12-yr old, especially given the deafening silence from older possibly more knowledgeable minds on the topic of low-cost portable shelters for the homeless.
