Question for expatriates

    I originally wanted to go to the UK, but the university I was attending at the time only had an exchange program with Scotland that was already booked, and the alternative was the exchange program with Germany. Since I had already had German in school and was interested in Germany as well, I took that instead, then ended up meeting BoE and staying largely because of her (but also because of the insanely cheap tuition and much better health care).

    So the region was determined

      Not to another country. I might consider moving to a more rural state just to get away from the hordes of people. Probably somewhere with a harsh winter. I've only lived for a few months outside of central Florida and that was a result of the company for which I worked moving out to Las Vegas, NV.

      I was just curious about the rationale behind other peoples' decisions because living in central Florida means working with foreigners (non-Floridians) almost exclusively. And I'v
      • North/South Dakota, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, roughly in that order. Harshest winters in the country, least amount of do gooder interference with your life. Not that socialists are extinct up there, but the inhospitable climes and lack of jobs keep the sissies out. If you don't strive to make it livable, the scum will remain OUT.
