Journal tannhaus's Journal: Automatically detect and remove commercials from EyeTV

Before now, there really hasn't been a way in OS X to automatically detect and remove commercials from EyeTV recordings. So, I've done a little work and created a way to do so. It uses wine and a windows-only program, but the whole thing does run on OS X and with a little changing around, could work on linux as well..with the scripts I've written.

It doesn't just work on EyeTV programs. Any program you record into mpeg2 format can have the commercials automatically removed using this method:

The great thing about this method is that it automatically encodes the resulting video into h264 format for exporting to the iPhone.
