Journal twitter's Journal: 12 year old faces criminal charges for pictures of herself. 2

The criminal justice system is reaching for a new low, this time threatening a 12 year old for taking pictures of herself. There is a victim in this case, unlike the recent cases, where a 15 year old girl and a 17 year old couple were threatened with hard time for their own protection. The 12 year old was trying to bully an 11 year old classmate. Ordinary bullies cause real physical and psychological harm everyday but don't earn criminal records and go to jail for it. Here's the story:

The 12-year-old suspect took the cell phone of an 11-year-old classmate from a locker after school Thursday, took a photo of herself "below the waist," and sent the image along with a profane message to other students with the intention of embarrassing the 11-year-old victim, police said.

Police recommended charging the 12-year-old with furnishing harmful material to minors, a felony. "There could be serious repercussions," Phoenix police Sgt. Joel Tranter said. "It was a very foolish thing to do."

Do minors "furnish harmful materials" everytime they use the bathroom?
