Journal Ethelred Unraed's Journal: I resolve... 16

...not to make any resolutions.

Except to wish everyone a Happy 2007.

So there.

I'm just sulking because I didn't get the fully-functional life-sized Starship Enterprise I wanted for Christmas.

Oh its there all right- the stupid salesmen just bemaed himself off without leaving anyone behind for beaming. The good news is that all you have to ask for next year is a transporter. And some coordinates might not hurt either...

  • Was on last night.

I want the "reverse Enterprise" - if it comes with the Mirror Uhura!
    • I got this game [ign.com] some time ago, totally looking forward to Mirror Uhura. Instead I got phoned-in comatose Sulu and Chekhov.

      Rip-off! Rip-off, I say!

(The game itself sucked majorly, but it would have helped if they had at least included Mirror Uhura, dammit.)

      Cheers,

      Ethelred

  • The Star Trek fleet are mighty tiny compared to some of the others our there.

    • Why no Battlestar Galactica ships? :)

There are the old ones right under the Babylon 5 ships, though the new series ones look cooler :-) Or did you mean you thought he should choose BSG ships instead?
        • No, I just meant I didn't see any. Thanks for pointing them out.
I think I've seen one, maybe two episodes of the new series. Eventually I will see the rest. But I'm a diehard fan of the old series.
          • I overlooked them, too, and was puzzled that they were missing. Then again there aren't that many different large craft in BSG, so it's not surprising they get lost in all the other ones...

I have to admit that while I've only seen the pilot of the new BSG series, I muchly prefer it over the original. Somehow I just never liked the original much, and the reboot fixed a lot of what I saw as the major flaws in the original (not to mention in other sci-fi). In fact, I'd say I liked BSG 2003 even more than Sta

BSG 1978: The rag-tag remnants of humanity struggle to hold together and...oooh look, a casino planet!

Don't forget the daggit and jump-the-shark goodness when they finally find earth :-|

Right now I am re-watching the whole series (the new one) and catching some interesting tidbits that I missed :-) I really think it is an awesome series that could potentially appeal to non-sci-fi people as well (if you can get them past the whole "but sci-fi is for nerdz!" thing).

p.s. I don't think Earth is a colony btw: af

            • Sure, I agree that the original series was cheesy and everything. Ponderosa in space.
But there's one huge factor affecting my judgment: I was the same age as "Boxey" when it first aired :)
My fantasy was to be that kid in space with the robotic dog and all of that.
    • Obviously, I didn't want to wish for anything unreasonable.

Besides, I'd be like so Evil Kirk all the way.

      Cheers,

      Ethelred

Yeah but if you have the right weapons, eventually your ship can be the biggest :D

I wonder if the Lexx ship vibrates?

  • Happy New Year!

    Godt Nytt År!

(too bad about the missing Enterprise, but I didn't get any either)

  • The problem was insisting on the fully-functional Enterprise. I made no such demand, and my wife rewarded me with a non-functional life-sized Enterprise. Boy, are my neighbors pissed.
