Journal blinder's Journal: Best Song Title, Evar? 10

i haven't been listening to much music lately, in fact i haven't been *playing* much music lately (i did, however, have something ready for [DYPG], which i'll mix down probably tonight, and get it uploaded, then i'll make a quick widdle html page for everyone's entry, you included zed).

anyway, aside from just being completely sick and tired of the music i have crammed on to my ipod, i just haven't been much in the mood. too much going on, stress, work, bla bla bla... to really care much about music lately.

but, alas, i have started to care a little more, and was listening to latterman (no, you probably haven't heard of them, the only person i would guess that has, would be our friendly neighborhood fellow obscure music fan, a one janeowit)

on their record "no matter where we go" they have a song that has one of the best titles evar found in a recording (and is quite a good song to boot):

" video games and fantasy novels are fucking cool "

which is followed by an almost equally brilliant title, "zombies are pissed."

okay, this pointless journal has now come to a full and complete stop.

  • Moods are for cattle and love play! (Sorry, I'll never miss an opportunity to quote Patrick Stewart.) When I'm stressed and tired and angry and all that, that's when I need music the most! I need to crank out a bunch of code in not much time? I'm going to throw on my headphones and get lost in the music and let the code flow.
  • I suck.
  • There was one that prompted a JE from me a while back -- here it is, "Lady Loverly's Chatter [slashdot.org]".

  • I still really think Dillinger Four's "Noble Stabbings!!" is a great song title because of the inclusion of two exclamation points.

Your mention of Latterman reminds me that I really have been neglecting my loud, up-tempo, rebellious musical childrens for any Tom, Dick, or, Harry with a sad song, acoustic guitar and a harmonica. Shame on me.

  • My favorite titles come from a German fun Punk band called "Die Kassierer" (The Cashiers). They have titles like "USA 1996: Emerson Brady, first human to walk on the Sun", "The vagina of Kristiane Backer" (the first famous MTV Europe VJ in the eighties), "God has an IQ of 5 Billion", "Stinky Cunt Polka" (Stinkmösenpolka, in case you wonder *g*) and "Cauliflowers on my Willy".

On a side note, they had one song on "The Holy Spirit Attacks" which was called "Serious Song". It begins with the guitarist anno
  • TISM (an Aussie band) have some great song titles. And some great songs too. A random sampling:

(He'll Never Be An) Ol' Man River (Famous line: "I'm on the drug that killed River Phoenix"")
    All Homeboys Are Dickheads
    Lose Your Delusion 2
    Play Mistral For Me
Jung Talent Time (Young Talent Time was a long running variety show akin to the Mickey Mouse Club (but without the ears) featuring young kiddies singing and dancing)
Martin Scorsese is Really Quite A Jovial Fellow
    Saturday Night Palsy

Then of course there is Reg
