Journal RevMike's Journal: Dear Detroit Airport 5

There is this amazing family of designs that is used successfuly at lots of major airports. It is based on arranging the gates in circles or snowflake patterns. That way when you need to change planes, you don't have to walk miles to get from one gate to another.

Please look into it.

That is all,
RevMike

Dear Detroit Airport

  • I imagine it to be somewhat like Newark.

Of all the airports I've been to, I think that Minneapolis-St. Paul is the most pleasant.
    • Detroit's airport is really quite nice, although in the past it was a dark, dank dump that resembled an overgrown Greyhound station. The new main terminal, however, is as nice as many of the European airports, and for those complaining about running around, there is a shuttle that rapidly takes you from one end to the other.

Besides, it's got 2 Coney Island stands. Unfortunately I don't travel on business anymore, but when I did, I always looked forward to a connection via Detroit.
  • I landed in Detroit when I moved to the US. After an 8 hour transatlantic flight we were a bit late and had to run through the whole damn thing to get to the gate to catch our connection to Atlanta.

Only to find that the gate had been changed to one in the opposite end of the airport.

    Detroit airport sucks.
  • did you see any piles of burning tires or riots when you were there? i bet you found some AWESOME Chinese food places in Michigan...

even the star design for an airport doesn't help because they ALWAYS PUT YOU AT THE OTHER END OF A BRANCH OPPOSITE THE BRANCH YOU'RE AT!!!! sadistic bastards!
    • Why, it sounds like you were on my connection in O'Hare last week!

Apparently there was a shuttle between my two terminals. Of course, said shuttle was only advertised at the terminal I was walking to.
