Journal Chacham's Journal: Chronicle: Came from from St. Louis 4

So, i drove back from St. Louis on Monday. About 8.5 hours, and considering a few stops, that was good time.

I made a mistake though. When driving on the freeway for a long time i don't always check my blindspot when changing lanes. Basically, if i'm passing cars and i know who is ahead of me, who i just passed, i can see the passed car in the rear-view mirror, and there are no other entrances to the road, i'll change lanes without turning my head. That's fine, but, when i got off I-69 and onto I-94, i switched lanes without checking. Bad idea. I heard a honk and remembered that i should have checked. Oops.

That's one of those times i wish i had a scrolling message thingy on my tail, so i could tell him i was sorry.

The universal sign for that around where I live is apparently the middle finger. :-)

I do pretty much like you do, only subconsciously. I glance at my rearview mirror involuntarily these days, and part of my brain kind of keeps track of cars around me for me, while I'm busy thinking about other things (I think Hyperthreading is turned on in me). Which is good, in case the person in front of you stops
    • still wondering how they got there in the first place without me noticing.)

I has to do with the frame rate in all. When we upgrade your brain you ought to see them earlier. :)
  • I'm paranoid about my blind spots. I always physically turn and glance a few times before I swap lanes. I'm probably more likely to hit someone ahead of me than in my blind spot. :)

I should be more paranoid. Though, i'm trying to be more concious of it now until it becomes a habit.

      Oh, the choices we make.
