  • Wake me when it costs as much as inkjet ink.
    • I don't know... Do you use multiple gallons of inkjet ink to get to and from work each day?
      • I don't use multiple gallons of anything to get to and from work each day. Ten miles round trip. My car gets just shy of 25mpg in town, which puts the work commute at about two gallons a week.

And if all goes well, I'll soon be working two miles from home, which I can do sans car quite easily.
        • Good on you... I wish my own commuting requirements were the same.

Not too long ago, I considered getting a hybrid not because I was particularly concerned about the price of fuel, or the environment, but just so that I could use the HOV lanes here in Northern Virginia.

Mere months later, I've managed to scrounge enough passengers to use the HOV lanes, but now I'm forced to consider a hybrid because the cost of fuel has effectively tripled, and will likely rise further still before it gets any better.

          • I've been wanting a hybrid for a while because, all else being equal, consuming less of a finite resource is a good thing. Also because I've been assuming for quite some time that the cost of fuel would rise sharply over time. I frankly can't see how anyone is actually surprised by what's going on.
