I guess people have forgotten common "administer", especially those in careers relating to systems administration. I can't tell you how many times I see "administrate" on resumes.

  • Unfortunately, there is [tfd.com]. But I'm with you on this. I think a lot of words are coined bastardizations of original words. I don't know if it's an automatic disqualifier when I'm looking at someone since we're now entering an age where some people may have grown up never even exposed to orginal derivatives of these words, but it's at least a yellow flag.

    Add to the list "acclimatize" (instead of acclimate). Also, please grant an injunction against creating verbs out of nouns, e.g., "incentivizing", ugh!

  • I administrate the administration of system administrators , so that they may administer system maintenance and security and other admin tasks
